Day 23 of the Body, Mind, Spirit Spread

Day 23 of the "Body, Mind, Spirit" Spread from Mary K. Greer’s "Tarot for Yourself".

My most recent content went viral and is even being recommended by professionals, yet it hasn’t generated a single conversion for my main product: this has never happened before. Even my less popular content used to bring in between one and three new customers.

This means I woke up today feeling upset and defeated, but immediately had the song “Try Again” by Keane playing in my head: not as motivation, but as an expression of what my brain had framed as defeat; a sort of “Why do you keep trying?!”

Drawing the Ten of Pentacles reversed in the body position is particularly significant for this reason: I feel ungrounded, unsupported, deprived of material comfort, and physically unable to find the energy I need to keep working today. At the same time, I struggle to see the value in what I’ve built: a business model based on doing what I love, which “should” be enough to make me smile every day, regardless of an isolated setback.

This reversed card has the energy of the element of Earth weakened and represents boredom with routine, sometimes even a rejection of the security or comfort of a life without major surprises.

Even so, there is still a desire to keep going because work is part of my identity and my only pastime: without it, I have nothing to do during the day, which becomes empty and meaningless. Consequently, I end up feeling that I have nothing to live for because I’ve turned my passion into a source of income, and now my purpose (spirit) has become tied to a false sense of worth measured primarily by profitability, click-through rate, and retention time (matter).

The Three of Pentacles in the mind position speaks precisely to this rationalization: I experience this work as a personal achievement with tangible effects on my community, but I’m expecting that recognition to be quickly “translated” into the material world, whereas what the card shows is work still in the process of being “finished.”

The structure is there, but the “decoration” that attracts new customers has yet to be defined, even though the work is already drawing the attention of those who need me to do it.

The energy of the element of Earth is dignified in this card, but it conflicts with the energy of Air, dignified by the card in the spirit position: the Six of Swords.

Since I began my daily Body, Mind, and Spirit tarot readings, this card has become the one I’ve drawn most frequently from my deck, tied only with the Eight of Swords: both representing my sense of being trapped and longing for liberation.

It also indicates how my spirit/purpose is affected by intellectualization, which has been rationalizing my “mistakes” against me, attributing events beyond my control to personal failure.

In this reading, this card seems to capture exactly what I’m feeling: that despite the material burden and the unfair comparison between material and immaterial value arising from my efforts specifically related to work (which is my life and ego), I continue to observe this context in an attempt to reframe that feeling.

It is the spiritual crossing I’ve been undertaking since I resumed my daily tarot readings, alongside the process I call “Awakening”: learning to stop attaching limiting labels to the infinity I carry within my heart.
